If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t flatter. While there are many suit options on the market these days to choose from, we believe going custom is always in your best interest. Want to know what made to measure suits are? Keep reading!
What doest Made to Measure mean?
Made-to-measure typically refers to custom clothes that are cut and sewn using a standard-sized base pattern. The most common garments that are made to measure are suits and sport coats. Since made-to-measure garments are constructed to fit each customer individually based on a few body measurements and using the pre-existing pattern, they are far more better than any other off the rack suit you can buy in the department store. When compared to bespoke tailoring, made to measure suits are less expensive because of the standardization in the pattern and manufacturing (whereas a bespoke suit is made entirely from scratch and includes more fittings).
Consequently, when we discuss clothing that’s custom made, we are most often referring to made to measure garments.
Made to Measure Process
When you choose a made-to-measure suit at D&B Tailors, our Master Designer Gabriele D’Annunzio will first take your exact measurements. Then a base pattern will be selected that most closely reflects your measurements. This base pattern is later altered to match individual’s measurements. Your final suit will be constructed from such altered pattern. This is how we achieve the best fit that flatters your body. You will also have the opportunity to customize the fabric and detailing.
Unlike bespoke tailoring (hand sewing), we use both machine and hand-sewing. Made-to-measure suits also requires fewer fittings than bespoke, resulting in a shorter wait between taking your measurements and the finished garment.
