A wedding season is upon us, and so are all the important decisions to make regarding your big day. In order to ensure you have a wedding of your dreams, in today’s post, we are answering 3 of the most common questions about wedding alterations. At D&B Tailors, we have over 50 years of experience in bespoke tailoring and dry cleaning services, and we love sharing our expertise with our most loyal clients! Let’s jump right into it, shall we?
#1 – Where should you get it done?
If the bridal store where you purchased your gown doesn’t offer alterations, be sure to bring it to a seamstress or a tailor. For example, here at D&B Tailors, there’s no job too big or small for us. Our Master Designer Gabe D’Annunzio performs the fittings himself, from hemming pants to completely reconstructing or even replicating wedding garments.
We also offer dry cleaning for all your wedding garments.
#2 – When is the best time to bring in your wedding suits and gown for alterations?
It’s important to remember that neither too early or last minute is good for any alterations to be made. We recommend bringing in your wedding suits and gowns 2-3 months from the first fitting to the last. For a reference, typically a bride comes in for 3 or 4 fittings.
#3 – What to Bring to Your Fittings?
It is important to not only bring your wedding gown or suit for a fitting, but also make sure to have your undergarments, shoes and accessories as well. It’s all about the proper fit and length! If you can’t bring you exact wedding shoes, bring a similar pair.
